Polymechanics technicians, or mechanical and maintenance fitters, produce and install parts for the technical repair of production machinery.

Carrying out the repair and maintenance of machines and systems in production plants is a skilled job which requires knowledge of logic, drilling, turning, milling, assembling and automation control. Modern machines are also often pneumatically and electronically controlled, so an understanding of these technologies is also essential.

Polymechanics technicians decide what kind of production processes, machines and parts are needed to repair the machines under their care. They will then use that part and reassemble the equipment, adjusting and testing it until it works again.
