Welcome to the WorldSkills London 2011 education pages!
WorldSkills London 2011 will bring together the hearts, hands and minds of young people across the globe to compete in their chosen skill. These young people are demonstrating excellence in their skill and through this we aim to capture the imagination and build the aspirations of young people today to see vocational skills as a worthwhile and credible career choice.
Young people, through schools and colleges, are encouraged to visit the Competition and to see skilled young people in action, have a go at the skills and find out about learning opportunities that exist across the United Kingdom. Through the WorldSkills London 2011 Education Engagement Programme learners will have the opportunity to make their visit worthwhile and relevant.
The WorldSkills London Education Engagement Programme will be launched next year. Teacher and learner resources will be made available to make WorldSkills London 2011 come to life regardless of whether there is an intention to visit the event or not. Sign up to be kept informed about future developments.
Are you interested in circuit design, hardware and software and fault finding? If so, a career in industrial control could be for you.
How did you get involved in your skill?
I've always had a passion for mechanics and I wanted to learn as much as possible about working with materials like metal and plastic. That is what motivated me to learn about computer numerically controlled (CNC) turning.
